Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
A few years ago I worked for a healthcare organization in a union position that was beginning to do layoffs. I was the last hired in my unit and was concerned about my position. Although I trusted God to take care of me, I still felt like I had to be proactive in searching for another job. I was worried about how I was going to help my husband pay the bills and if I would be able to get another job. Things worked out for me that I was not one of the 200 employees that was laid off and that no union member chose to bump me from my position. God had me covered.
As I look back on that time, I remember saying with my mouth that I wasn’t worried about the outcome but internally I was a mess. I said the words but did not fully believe that it would happen for me. Retrospectively, I wish I had remembered this scripture so that I could have had peace of mind knowing that my heavenly Father had me covered.
God the Father knew the outcome of my situation before I was ever born. His love for me reminds me that I don’t have to worry about things that are out of my control. He said in His Word that He would supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). If He doesn’t have it, then apparently I don’t need it. I guess I am letting go because God has it covered!
